On Saturday, 27 September 2025, at its headquarters in Castel Bolognese, Comecer celebrated its fifty-year history with an evening event that combined tradition and innovations.
Founded in the heart of Romagna, the company is now a global player with offices in the Netherlands, Spain, the United States, India and again in Italy (Siena) and a network that extends throughout the world.
A journey that, from its origins as a small artisan workshop, has taken Comecer to the forefront of technology applied to life sciences, with a portfolio ranging from radiopharmacy and nuclear medicine to pharmaceuticals (Pharma) and aseptic filling lines for the production of sterile medicines.
By joining the ATS Life Sciences Group, the company has strengthened its position as a leading international provider of solutions for high-security environments, offering the highest levels of quality, traceability and protection.
At the heart of this journey, the goal that guides every step remains unchanged: to develop highly innovative technologies to support and improve healthcare services globally, offering solutions that help people live better lives. It is a vision that combines scientific expertise and human responsibility, and one that has inspired the company to innovate with the same passion and dedication for fifty years as when it all began.
A celebration for the Comecer family
First and foremost, the fiftieth anniversary event was a great opportunity to bring people together. More than 700 people, including employees, their families and collaborators, gathered at the company headquarters to enjoy an evening of celebration, excitement and a sense of belonging.
From 5:30 pm until midnight, the Castel Bolognese headquarters were transformed into a convivial village with street food, bars, children's areas, shows and live music.
Inside the factory, employees and their families could retrace Comecer's history by looking at photographs and objects, and listening to personal stories, all of which were collected in the company museum. This was a journey down memory lane that brought half a century of innovation to life.
An evening exploring identity and the future
The evening was presented by a familiar voice from national radio and brought to life by the Comecer Band, a group of company colleagues who combined entertainment with team spirit in a shared atmosphere of enthusiasm.
Italian comedian Paolo Cevoli added to the authenticity of the atmosphere with his unmistakable humour, recalling the most typical qualities of the people of Romagna and transforming them into a perfect metaphor for the Comecer style: passion, resourcefulness and vision. Cevoli captured the essence of a region that works hard, smiles easily and, like Comecer, always looks to the future.
One company, many frontiers
Over the course of its fifty years, Comecer has overcome numerous scientific and technological barriers, from automating radiopharmaceutical processes and designing GMP-compliant environments for advanced therapies (ATMPs) to providing aseptic solutions for drug filling and digitising and making production processes traceable. All of these innovations stem from a single ambition: to combine technology and safety in the service of science and life.
During his speech, Simone Volpi, the CEO of Comecer, emotionally recalled the key stages of the company's journey: "Comecer has changed in recent years. It innovates more and responds to markets quickly and with foresight. We have transformed our products and rethought our structure, service models and skills. We have invested in technological innovation, international growth, and strengthening our internal processes. The frontiers we have crossed are not only technological, but also human. Our strength has always been our ability to look beyond, together".
Frontiers: a direction, not a limitation
The concept chosen to celebrate this milestone is “Frontiers”, representing the desire to continue exploring and opening new paths in research, sustainability and corporate culture.
Looking to the future, Comecer maintains the same pioneering spirit that characterised its beginnings: innovating to protect and improve people's lives, and developing technologies that combine scientific expertise with human responsibility. The evening ended with cake-cutting, toasts and a final DJ set.
Fifty years of history is not just a milestone; it is a new starting point, a chance to continue looking to the future with the same passion and curiosity with which this adventure began.
