Hot Cells and Hoods
Comecer is the key partner for hospital facilities
Introduction
In the modern medicine, especially within the landscape of nuclear medicine, ensuring the utmost safety and protection for both operators and patients stands has an absolute priority. Hot cells and Hoods designed by Comecer, play a pivotal role in guaranteeing the security and well-being of individuals involved in the handling and administration of radioactive substances.
Hot cells, which are reinforced containment units equipped with shielding materials, serve as the environment in which radioactive materials are manipulated and processed. These controlled environments are meticulously engineered to safeguard healthcare professionals from hazardous exposure while working with radioactive substances.
Likewise, Microbiological Safety Biohazard Hoods , another fundamental component of safety infrastructure in nuclear medicine, provide a shielded space for handling and managing radioactive substances. These specialized enclosures, designed with cutting-edge shielding materials, safeguard healthcare professionals by preventing accidental exposure to potentially harmful radiation during the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals.
Hot Cells and Microbiological Safety Biohazard Hoods are ideal solutions for all Nuclear Medicine Department for diagnosis and treatment. Their design and functionality are crucial in mitigating the risks associated with radioactivity, thus promoting a safe environment for healthcare professionals.
Hot Cells by Comecer
All our solutions are cGMP compliant, with laminar flow Class A main chambers and Class B prechambers for introduction and extraction of consumables and raw materials.
Among Hot Cells, Comecer offers:
- Musa68, specifically designed to optimize processes (synthesis and dispensing) of Gallium-68-based products from a 68Ga/68Ge generator.
- Thecla, the smallest shielded isolator in the market with an integrated dose fractionator specifically designed for Ga68 based products.
- Manuela: it is a manual manipulation cell for high-energy isotopes (FDG)
- Elena: it is a shielded isolator for both PET isotopes and SPECT, equipped with a generator compartment for Ga68 or Tc-99.
- Eliza: it is a unique shielded isolator in width and ergonomics suitable for handling SPECT radiopharmaceuticals (TC-99).
Hoods by Comecer
The range of hoods also includes adaptable solutions that ensure maximum safety and ergonomics.
Our BH Hood models are designed for nuclear medicine applications. Their modularity allows them to be configured for the use of 68-Ga68 or Tc99 generators with different shielding thicknesses and sizes.
The work environment is Class A, with laminar flow and partial recirculation ventilation.
Shielding: it can range from 5 to 50 millimeters of lead and can be adapted to the different isotopes that can be used.
All hoods can be configured with sliding shielded glass to protect the operator during use.
Sizes (width): 1200 millimeters of BH4 to 1500 millimeters for BH5, and 1800 millimeters for BH6.
Accessories:
- tc-99 generator compartment in motorized or light static version.
- Gallium68 generator compartment.
- Embedded Dose Calibrator Compartment (DC INTEGRATED) of 2 Curie or 20 Curie.
- Shielded waste compartment.
Dispensers by Comecer
For the safe handling and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals, Comecer offers a series of dispensers for use in nuclear medicine. These devices are designed to ensure safe, accurate, and controlled management of radioactive materials used in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. They feature advanced safety systems enabling accurate dosing and controlled distribution of radiopharmaceuticals to minimize operator exposure and the risk of environmental contamination.
To support dispensing operations, Comecer offers a semi-automatic dispenser, the TIMO2: an easy-to-use tool that is reliable and flexible as it can be installed in both cells and Comecer hoods. This semi-automatic dispenser, for example, enables the fractionation of radiopharmaceuticals into single-dose syringes of PET and SPECT isotopes and for radiotherapy.
Comecer Calibrators
Comecer is the only company in the industry that manufactures its own dose calibrators. This allows us to tailor the dose calibrators to the actual needs of our equipment.
Comecer's Dose Calibrators communicate with our dispensers and can be connected to nuclear medicine management software, Comecer IBC or third parties.
Comecer has extensive experience with Dose Calibrators based on the experience of Veenstra in 2012, which has now become Comecer Netherlands.
The offer includes a wide range of calibrators: the VDC, which has a touch panel for instrument control and can be supplied with a 2 or 20 Curie ionization chamber; the IBC model, with a standard PC, for which Comecer provides the management software. We are also able to produce highly customized models or patented solutions such as the pass-through dose calibrator.
With its modular solutions, Comecer is a complete partner in the world of hospital nuclear medicine for both therapy and diagnostics.
In addition to solutions for radiopharmaceutical handling, we also offer solutions for automated injection (IRIS), patient monitoring (THERBED), radioactive waste management (ISP) and I-management software (IBC).
